April 17, 2019

First responders were called to the scene of an accident on Highway 7 at Heffington Road on Wednesday afternoon just after 3pm. A gold-brown four-door Oldsmobile had apparently left the road and was in a pasture north of the highway.

According to Trooper Ben Smith of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, OHP received a report of a vehicle weaving on Highway 7 in Stephens County. Trooper Smith said that the vehicle crossed the median and crashed on the north side of Highway 7. Upon arrival, EMS determined that there was a single death, one occupant in the vehicle.

Although the deceased had been identified, OHP was unable to release personal information until after relatives are notified. The cause of the crash is unknown and investigation is ongoing at this time.

OHP estimated that westbound Highway 7 would be closed to one lane for another two hours.
