Melvin Wayne Kiser

Melvin Wayne Kiser passed from this life Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Stillwater, at the age of 93.

 Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 5, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Ron Maxfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Stephens County Honor Guard. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

 Melvin was born Friday, December 11, 1925 in Hastings, to Hoyt and Bertie (Ross) Kiser. He attended elementary in a one room school house in Jefferson county. He graduated from Waurika High School. Melvin married his loving wife, Mary May Miller in Henrietta, Texas on March 8, 1948. They had been married for 64 wonderful years before her passing on September 18, 2011. Melvin joined the United States Marines Corp in 1944 as well as serving in the Military Police in Hawaii during the war. Upon returning to Waurika, Oklahoma, he went back to work for the Rock Island Railroad with the section gang and later as a signal maintainer.They moved to Marlow in 1955. Melvin retired in 1987 after 45 years. Melvin enjoyed mowing, gardening, working in the flower beds with Mary and raising chicken. He liked woodworking and had built his own home. He built anything that Mary needed for her art work and China painting. He loved spending time with his family especially at holidays. Melvin was a member of the VFW and served on the Marlow School Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He especially loved to attend the Country Gospel Service on Sunday Morning. He will be missed by his family and friends.

 Survivors include, 2 daughters, Shenista Furman and husband Danny of Stillwater, Kathy Sharp and husband Ron of Guthrie, 3 grandchildren, Danna Collins and husband Joey, Ron Sharp, III and wife Anna, Matthew Sharp and wife Michelle, 5 great-grandchildren, Cole Collins, Allison Collins, Lorelai Sharp, Dean Sharp, and Rian Sharp. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, an infant daughter, Judy Kiser, his parents, and 2 brothers, J.W. Kiser, Leroy Kiser.

 Pallbearers will be: Ron Sharp, Matthew Sharp, Joey Collins, Cole Collins, Todd McNair, and Jason Miller.

 Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class.
