Marlow Schools Honor Veterans at Assembly

November 14, 2019

No amount of wind chill could put a damper on the pride that Marlow students took in honoring veterans at the annual Veterans’ Day assembly on Monday.

The school-wide event began with a presentation of the United States and Oklahoma flags by area Scout Troops 4417 and 4434 and included recitations by fourth and fifth graders from Marlow Elementary. The students, led by elementary vocal music teacher Penny Sutton, had begun preparing for the assembly earlier in the school year and were sure to include all branches of the armed forces in their celebration.

Later in the program, students were invited to bring veteran guests to the microphone so they could be introduced and recognized; more than one family present had multiple members who served or were currently serving in the military. After the applause died down for each veteran, they were presented with a thank you note made by a student.
