Tommy Gene McConnell

Tommy Gene McConnell was born June 19, 1939 and passed away December 10, 2020.

He was raised in Marlow, went to high school in Marlow graduated class of 1957. At the age of twelve years he was employed at Metcalf Barber Shop shining shoes. At the age of eighty he could still shine shoes that you still could see yourself in them. After graduating he went to work selling combine insurance with Joe Boy Hogan and Bill Huff following that employment he began selling chrome parts for eighteen wheelers and traveled across the USA. He went to Nashville, Tennessee and became a record producer where he made many friends in the music business. After leaving the music arena he moved to Carrolton, Texas. His last employment was working at Bent Tree Country Club in the grounds department. Tommy loved working in the yards. He kept his yard up with the utmost care. He would drive around on trash day looking for items other had discarded. At times he would get those tree items and repair them and make them attractive for his own use. Tommy had many friends and kept in constant contact with all of them. He found a special friend in Bill Huff for fifty plus years in Duncan. Also special friend in Dallas, Tilden. He is survived by his daughter Nicole and son in law Tim Taylor of Houston. A grandson Christopher Harrell of Seattle, Washington and Hunter Taylor of Houston A great granddaughter, Alyssa of Houston, and sister Linda Palmer of Duncan.

He is preceded in death by Earl his father in 1952 and mother Artha of 2001. His son, Lance and brother Bill of 1999 and sister Mary of 2004 and mother and father in law. Funeral service will be held at the Callaway Smith Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow on March 9, 2021 at 1:00pm
