Gymnasts Earn National Medals; Coach Scores Perfect 10 in Adult Competition
Eleven AAU XCEL Oklahoma GymJammers qualified and represented Oklahoma and the Marlow GYMJAM Training Center in the AAU Gymnastics National Championship in Savannah, GA, the week of June 23-27, 2021. It was their first National Championship in the three years that GYMJAM has had a Competitive Team Program.
Competing at the AAU National Championship were 2,255 gymnasts from over 40 States and 173 Gymnastics Teams in the United States. Over a span of five days and an average of five sessions each day, teams competed from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, California, Arizona, Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Connecticut, California, Colorado, New York, North and South Carolina, and more. Oklahoma was proudly represented by eight (8) teams/gyms and a total of 108 gymnasts.
Britney Mackey earned the highest All-Around score out of all of the Compulsory and XCEL levels from the Oklahoma Teams, with a 38.05. She competed in the XCEL Gold 14yr old Division and won 3rd Place All-Around, in the Nation. Vault-9.35, Bars-9.70 (3rd), Beam-9.45, Floor-9.55 (2nd). She placed #347 out of 2,255 gymnasts, in all levels competing at Nationals.
Julianna Chesnut earned 3rd place All-Around, with a score of 36.825 in the XCEL Gold 13yr old Division. Vault-8.90, Bars-9.45 (3rd), Beam-9.325 (3rd), Floor, 9.15. She placed #1215 out of 2,255 gymnasts.
Brayley Fish earned 3rd place All-Around, with a score of 37.125 in the XCEL Gold 10yr old Division. Vault-9.30, Bars-9.20, Beam-9.075, Floor-9.55 (2nd). She placed #989 out of all competitors.
Elizabeth Hutton earned 4th place All-Around with a score of 37.35 in the XCEL Gold 11yr old Division. Vault-9.525 (3rd), Bars-9.475, Beam-9.00, Floor-9.35. She placed #815 overall.
The GymJammer XCEL Gold Team placed 20th out of 63 Gold Teams competing in the Nation, with a total team score of 113.10.
Tolly Sanders earned 5th place All-Around with a score of 37.45 in the XCEL Bronze 6yr old Division. Vault-9.20, Bars-9.025, Beam-9.55 (3rd), and she placed 1st on Floor with a score of 9.675. Sanders placed 747th.
Abby Wolston earned 5th place All-Around with a score of 37.20 in the XCEL Bronze 10yr old Division. Vault-9.175, Bars-9.30, Beam-9.225, Floor-9.50 and was 926 out of all gymnasts at Nationals.
Emma Love earned the 8th place All-Around with a score of 37.35 in the XCEL Silver 11yr old Division. Vault-9.10, Bars-9.50, Beam-9.325, Floor-9.425 and placed #815T.
Harper Price earned the 9th place All-Around with a score of 36.425 in the XCEL Bronze 7yr old Division. Vault-8.50, Bars-9.075, Beam-9.45, and Floor-9.40.
Emma Cain earned the 10th place All-Around with a score of 34.975 in the XCEL Silver 12 yr old Division. Vault-9.05, Bars-8.30, Beam-8.725, and Floor-8.90.
Grace Luttrell earned the 13th place All-Around with a score of 33.90 in the XCEL Gold 12 yr old Division. Vault-8.60, Bars-8.75, Beam-7.30, and Floor-9.225.
Coach Leslie Bogue also competed in the AAU National Championship in the Adult Division. She was the only Oklahoma Adult Gymnast. She competed with 43 other Adult Women, from six different XCEL levels. Bogue competed in the XCL Bronze Division and won 1st place All-Around in the Nation, with a score of 37.925. She earned a Perfect 10 and 1st place on her Floor Routine. She also placed 1st on the Vault-9.00, Bars-9.325, and Beam-9.60. Coach Leslie was also the oldest Adult Gymnast competing at the AAU Nationals, finishing at #428 in the Nation, out of 2,255 competitors.
