Elizabeth Cathey

Elizabeth Cathey was born September 7, 1927 in Whitesboro, Ok to Johnnie A. Harris and Katie (Sis) Lindamood Harris. She went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 13th. She has three sisters, Jessie, Mae Della, and Vossie, and one brother, Joe. She grew up in various states, Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Arizona, where she pulled cotton and picked peaches. As a child, she was nicknamed, Blue-eyed Pick a pie. She married Dillard Cathey July 3, 1947. They had three daughters, Linda, Mary, and Martha Jo, Elizabeth was known to her family as “Lizzie.” The family moved from McAlester, Ok to Lawton, Ok in 1962. They lived in the Lawton area until 1974 when they moved to Marlow, Ok where she lived until 1999, and then she moved to The Colony. She had been a member of various Churches of Christ including McAlester Church of Christ, Eight and Lee Church of Christ, in Lawton and The Branch. Elizabeth worked as a short-order cook for about 25 years in the Lawton and Duncan, OK area. She greatly enjoyed yard work including flower and vegetable gardens, mowing the yard, cooking, crocheting, quilting, embroidering, and keeping an impeccably clean house. She was a giver of things whether it be love time or food. She loved God first and then her family. She had an amazing sense of humor and kept her family laughing. She was a hard worker and never gave up. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ray and husband Rick, of Ardmore, Ok and Martha Jo Cathey-Baucom and husband, Marshall of The Colony. Three grandsons, Larry Sallee Jr., and wife, Shelly of Marlow, Ok, Jerry Sallee and wife, Marie, of Justin, Tx, and Aaron Ray and wife, Melissa of Duncan, Ok. Six great-grandsons, Kyle Salle of Oklahoma City, Ok, Keeton Sallee and wife, Destiny of Sterling, Ok, Austin Sallee and wife, Sydney of Colorado Springs, Ok, Peyton Sallee of Justin, Tx, and Rylan Ray and Rizden Ray of Duncan, Ok, and one great great granddaughter, Karter Sallee, Sterling, Ok. Celebration of life will be at Stonebriar funeral home and cremation services in Frisco, Texas from 4 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22nd her funeral will be at The Branch Church in Farmers Branch, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Friday July 23rd with brother Eddy Ketchersid officiating. Burial will be July 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lawton, Oklahoma with Joe Rodriguez presiding.

Pallbears will be her grandsons, Larry Sallee Jr., Jerry Sallee, Aaron Ray, and great-grandsons, Keeton Sallee, Austin Sallee, Peyton Sallee, and Rylan Ray.
