Carlton "Chief" Dale Willis

Carlton Dale “Chief” Willis, a resident of Stamford, TX and a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, entered his eternal rest in Anson, TX on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the age of 67. Chief was born July 10, 1955, in Lawton, OK to Simmons Willis, Sr. and Shirley (Sweeney) Willis. Chief and his beloved Bobbie (Wyatt) Willis celebrated 45 years together prior to his death.

Chief graduated from Marlow High School in 1975, continuing his education at Oklahoma State University. He moved from Oklahoma to Abilene, TX in 1977 to work at Pepsi Cola for 2 years before finding his love for oil field work in which he completed his working career.

Chief truly enjoyed life and helping others. His favorite saying was, “There are no strangers in life only friends I have not met.”. He loved his family and was always a presence in their lives be it running errands, visiting, or going on a traveling adventure. Chief was truly a loving husband, father, and Papa. His relaxing time was spent on the golf course or watching NCIS, Daniel Boone, or Bonanza on TV and listening to country music. His number one favorite meal was fry bread, bologna, and red beans. Chief lived to work and loved working 24-hour shifts in the oil field. By faith Chief was a Baptist and was a member at Trinity Church in Stamford.

Mr. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenny Willis, Richard Willis and Simmons Willis, Jr., sister Donna Denham, and one great grandson Ero Hernandez.

Mr. Willis is survived by his cherished family: wife, Bobbie Willis of the home: children, Aleacia Pace of Abilene, TX, Kimberly Mendez (Gabriel) of Stamford, TX, Cory Willis (Brittany) Abilene, TX, Christie Willis of Abilene, TX; one sister, Maggie Watkins; two brothers, Dennis Denham, and Steven Willis; 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one more to arrive any day.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 1, 2022 at the St. York Baptist Church at 10:30
