Playoffs over for Outlaws this season

Outlaws made it to the first round of playoffs, but it ended on the Perkins-Tryon field Friday with a disappointing loss, 49-0.

Coach Matt Weber said it was a scrambling effort quickly into the game. Perkins put 21 points on the board in both the first and second quarters, and another 7 in the third quarter.

“I hated that it ended the way it did. The game got away from us so quickly with the 4 turnovers all inside our own 10-yard line within the first 14 minutes of the game,” Weber said. “When you get down that much so early, it puts you in scramble mode.”

Even though the season ended that night, overall, Weber has been pleased with the efforts put forth by the team.

“Our seniors had a great season overall and hopefully when they get over the last loss, they will remember all the big wins in a very tough class and district.”

Moving up one class was a bigger hurdle than anticipated.

“Unlike this season, we will return the majority of guys with experience. We would hope for a more polished team earlier in the season and build to a team equipped to advance deep in the playoffs. Our guys will continue to build their bodies in the off-season and set lofty goals. We know our guys will work towards those goals like they always do.”
