‘Adopt a Senior Citizen Angel Tree’ project aims to bring joy
A beautiful Christmas tree on display at a local business is for more than just décor. It is the “Adopt a Senior Citizen Angel Tree” project that is sponsored by Connor Sager Agency-Farmers Insurance. The beneficiaries are residents at West Wind Assisted Living facility.
Lyndse Sager said they approached the facility to see if there were any residents in need of items for Christmas.
“They provided us with 50 residents and a wish list from each one,” she said. “there are no names, just room numbers to help with the privacy. It’s just like an Angel tree for Christmas, but for senior (citizens).”
They asked residents to fill out a wish list, and most of the items they requested are simple needs – house shoes, pajamas, socks, sweatpants, sweatshirts, candy, snacks and toiletries.
“I have always wanted to host a Senior Angel tree, and we are very honored to do that this year. Seniors have always held a special place in my heart, and it brings me such joy to play a small part in making sure they are seen and recognized this Christmas,” Sager said. Hosting this project is also a community outreach event. Any individual who wants to adopt a senior citizen can stop in at the office now through Dec. 22. It will brighten the holidays for the senior angels, Sager said. The office is located at 231 W. Main St., Marlow. For more information, call 580-658-3422.
