Wade hits 1,000 career points, Lady Outlaws win in double OT at Purcell
Marlow Lady Outlaws defeated Purcell, 46-44, in Tuesday’s game at the opponent’s court. The game went into a double overtime play. Junior Kently Davis was the top-scoring athlete for her team, with 14 points.
The girls also won their battle Friday at Davis, 27-26, and another exciting milestone was added to senior Lady Outlaw athlete, Whitney Wade’s record at that game.
“Whitney reached 1,000 career points, which is an amazing accomplishment,” said Coach Brett Tahah. “She also had 12 points in our double OT win versus Purcell. She is a great leader and player and an even better person. I’m so proud of her accomplishments.” Tahah also selected Wade as the Outlaw Spotlight Player of the Week.
Marlow Outlaw boys lost their game against Purcell, 62-46 in conference play, but had a win in Friday’s game at Davis, 51-25.
“We played very well defensively the entire game but were not very consistent on offense. The Outlaws were led by Avrey Payne with 14 points, while Blayd Harris had 11. Parker Boyles and Mason Holding added 8 and 7 points in the game,” said Coach Kirk Harris.
“Purcell got off to a hot start in the game and led 19-6 after the first quarter. The Outlaws fought back but could get no closer than 6 points in the second half. We have to play a lot tougher and execute on offense if we want to be able to beat the top teams in our class.”
Harris selected junior Cody Weber as Spotlight Player of the Week. “He is an athletic wing player and a very good defender. His hard work in practice is very beneficial to the success of our team.”
