Baker and Dalrymple earn 1st place awards at FCCLA State Convention
Fourteen of Marlow High School’s FCCLA student organization were among the 3,000+ Oklahoma students attending the FCCLA State Leadership Convention, Thursday, April 6, at the OKC Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
Brianna Dalrymple and Kyleigh Baker each received first-place state awards in their STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events. They were presented their trophies and medals on stage during the events ceremony. Dalrymple was 1st in Children’s Literature, level 2, and Baker for Child Care Teacher’s Aide, level 2.
MHS teacher and local FCCLA Adviser Tamra May said the Oklahoma state membership total is just over 17,000. This year’s theme was "Top Gun Leadership" and was hosted by the FCCLA State Officer Council.
In addition to the students, a parent chaperone, Jana Krautbauer, and May also attended.
Nick Tokman, from the TV show, “Deadliest Catch” was keynote speaker.
“We were able to take a picture with him after the event concluded. We also attended the FCCLA event "Evening at the OKC Zoo" that evening with other members from across the state.”
Prior to the state convention, five students - Marissa Krautbauer, Hunter Hazen, Lillie Morningstar, Kyleigh Baker and Brianna Dalrymple, competed in the STAR event in Stillwater, March 22-23.
