Stephens County District #1 employees earn Roads Scholar Certificate

Blaine Beene, James Burnett, Brad Jones received their Certificate of Completion for the Roads Scholar Program that is offered through the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). This is an outreach program of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University.
Burnett began with District 1 in 2014, Beene began in 2016, and Jones in 2019.
The Roads Scholar Program began in Oklahoma in 1993, and is an educational series designed specifically for county commissioners, county road foremen, city public works officials, Tribal officials and the employees of public agencies responsible for transportation infrastructure.
The program’s purpose is to provide individuals with a basic education in civil engineering-related and other technical aspects of their jobs. It consists of eight courses (minimum 88 hours), which relate to road and bridge maintenance, construction, and repair. The courses include Aggregate Road Maintenance, Excavation Safety, Testing for Soil Properties, MUTCD part 6, Pavement Preservation, Project Management, Traffic Incident Management and Plan Reading.
