Gary Dale Nichols, passed away from this life at the age of 55, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
A Celebration of Life is planned in Gary’s honor for 2 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Whitt Funeral Home and Chapel in Duncan. All arrangements are entrusted to the Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Gary was born in Duncan on October 11, 1967, to the late Carroll Nichols and Mary Wharton.
Graduating with the Bray–Doyle Class of 1986, he began his career working in the oilfield as well as serving proudly in the National Guard. Gary was a man of many trades but ended his career working as a pumper for Mack Energy for more than 15 years before retiring.
Gary married the love of his life, Tracy Anderson, on June 13, 2016, in Lawton. He was a loving family man that cared greatly for all his family and friends. He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandbabies taking them to Kiddieland and skating as well as buying them anything they wanted. A stellar man, Gary proudly took care of anyone in need with dignity, he took pride in everything that he did. In Gary’s free time, he enjoyed going out to help his friend, Danny Harrison, on the farm which he
was passionate about doing.
Gary is survived by the love of his life, Tracy Nichols of the home; his children: Tanner Nichols and wife Ashley of Marlow, “Pookie” Taylor Nichols and Tylor of Bray, and Meagan Bourne of Marlow; his pride and joys: Jocelyn, Piper, Kutter, and Whitley; his mother, Phyllis Nichols and Mary Nichols; his brother and best friend, David Nichols and wife Tammy; sisters: Donna Fowler and husband Ronnie, Kaylynn Triplet and husband Craig; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great friends.
Preceding Gary in death are his father, Carroll Nichols, and his grandparents: Kenneth and Olive Wharton, OL and Fanny Nichols.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Chaffin, Jessie Graham, Tom Heinrich, Jimmy Bingham, Danny Harrison, Aaron Bratcher, David Nichols and Dillon Nichols.
In Gary’s honor, memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Center of the Southwest Oklahoma in Duncan.
