Dickey Lee Whaley, 79, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Marlow.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, with Pastor Terra Sisco officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Visitation will be at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 13.
Dickey was born Sunday, May 14, 1944, in Marlow, to Willie and Lola (Himes) Whaley. He was a 1962 graduate of Bray High School. Dickey married the love of his life, Jimmie "Marie" Archer, on October 30, 1965. He and Marie celebrated more than 52 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on April 24, 2017.
Dickey lived in Stephens County all of his life and he worked in IT for Halliburton for many years followed by Accenture, for a total of over 40 years. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Marlow. Dickey also was a member of the Lions Club. He was an avid OU fan and he loved watching any and all sports involving the Sooners. Dickey loved his family more than anything and he cherished the time they spent together. He will be dearly missed in the days to come.
Survivors include his daughter, Mindy Nichols, and husband Trevor of Marlow, son, Brett Whaley and wife Christal of Conroe, TX, 5 grandchildren, Ashlyn, Austin, Charlee, Preston, and Paisley, brother, Mickey Whaley and wife Vickie, cousin and dear friend, Sheri Haggerty, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife Marie, Dickey was preceded in death by daughter, Amy Whaley and his parents.
Pallbearers will be: Mike McDonald, Chris Craven, Mark Whaley, Tim Whaley, David Whaley, and Cole McDonald.
