Marlow meets Dickson for Homecoming
It's five for five as Marlow approaches its homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023.
A win over Lone Grove, 20-7, last week, put the Outlaws at 5-0 for the season.
Head Coach Matt Weber said, "Another quality win over a team that will be a playoff contender. Our defense played really well holding such a good team to one touchdown. Offensively, I was way too conservative with calls once we got the lead. I put our team in a bad position when I do that. We did enough on that side to get out of there with a victory."
The Outlaws will take on Dickson, a team they have always conquered, beginning in 1992 with a 60-0 win. They've met them 13 times over the years - 13 wins.
Yet Weber always holds reserve as with any contest.
"This week we play a much-improved Dickson team. They started the season 3-0 which hasn't been done there in many years. Dickson has really quality skilled players and big linemen."
Dickson's Head Coach Matt Suffal, a Duncan High School grad, is in his second season with that team.
"We need to get better and our play caller needs to do better," Weber said. "Like all homecoming weeks, we want our guys to enjoy this week, but understand, winning the football game is priority number one."
RECAP/Week 1 - 37-14 (Chickasha); Week 2 - 42-7 (Comanche): Week 3 - 27-21 (Perkins-Tryon); Week 4 - 22-7 (Pauls Valley); Week 5 - 20-7 (Lone Grove)
Homecoming activities begin with the annual Delta Sigma potato dinner at the cafeteria, 5 to 7 p.m. Crowning ceremony begins around 6:35 p.m. Outlaw Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Weather is expected to be cooler this Friday evening.
