Carl Warren Dittner of Tishomingo, 81 years of age, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, in Oklahoma City.

Carl was born December 7, 1941, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to James and Mildred Dittner. He was the oldest of their two children. Carl attended Marlow Public Schools and then went on to attend Oklahoma State University where he received his Masters's degree. CW had many interesting jobs along the way, including some time spent in the Forestry Service and being stationed in Tin City, Alaska, for which he determined then, that was not a place he would return. He eventually found his passion for teaching high school science and taught at Marlow Central, Coalgate, Calera, and finally Tishomingo.

Mr. Dittner loved the outdoors and animals and this passion found its way in his classroom. There are many who can remember trips to the pond or listening to bird calls. "Mr. D" held his students close to his heart and always remembered his time in the classroom fondly. He attended as many THS home games as he could, even after retirement.

Carl was also an avid hunter and fisherman, with which he spent many hours doing so with his lifelong best friend, Charles Wyatt. He loved to visit with anyone and everyone, but those times spent with Charles, gossiping and solving the world's problems, were his most treasured. The stories those two have together would fill pages.

Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Lela Gail (Dittner) Barnes, 43, and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn Barnes, 11. Our Wednesdays will never be the same. Other surviving family members include his brother, James Dittner; niece, Alison Dittner Dice; nephew, Andrew Dittner; step-mother, Jean Dittner; half-sister and her husband, Jamie and Rusty Harris; and step-brothers and their wives, Scott and Kathy Dittner; Terry and Judy Dittner.

Family hour will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2023, at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Marlow Cemetery in Marlow, Oklahoma.

Those serving as pallbearers are Charles Wyatt, Gary Wyatt, Dustin Rowe, Andrew Dittner, Scotty Dittner and Terry Dittner. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Carl's name to Ducks Unlimited Inc. (1 Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120 or www.ducks.org)
