Mulkey named as Chisholm Trail Heritage Center's Executive Director
DUNCAN, Okla. - Chisholm Trail Heritage Center has a new executive director - Leah Mulkey. CTHC's board of directors announced Tuesday with a press release. Mulkey started at the Center in 2009 as an educator and took on the role of education director in 2010. Mulkey has served as assistant director since 2020, and as interim executive director for the past two years.
Mulkey brings a wealth of experience, creativity, and knowledge to CTHC. She's proven her skills, passion, and dedication to the Center, the staff and visitors.
"CTHC's education program, founded in 2004, has flourished under Mulkey's leadership and creative thinking," said Julie McKinney, CTHC board chair. "The education program served more than 10,000 students in 2023, which is truly remarkable."
The board of directors believe Mulkey has more than proved her skills and will be an excellent leader and innovator for the Center.
"Leah is an asset to the Heritage Center," said Larry Benson, CTHC board chair. "We opened the search for a director, and after numerous interviews with candidates, we realized there's no one more fitting for the job than Leah."
McKinney also said, "Leah is determined to ensure everyone the Center serves has a great experience. She diligently works to improve the Center by incorporating new programs, writing grants to receive funding, helping organize events, ensuring a high-quality guest experience, and so much more."
The Heritage Center and Garis Gallery of the American West opened in 1998.
