Ron Curry honored with Teacher Believer Award from OK FFA Foundation

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma FFA Foundation hosted the 4th Annual "I Believe" Gala on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. Former Central High FFA advisor Ron Curry was one of four individuals recognized for their outstanding support of the Oklahoma FFA organization. Curry served as an agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor of the Central High FFA Chapter for 42 years.

Curry received the Teacher Believer award, which is designated to recognize an Oklahoma FFA advisor, former or present, who demonstrates great support for Foundation programs, notably the chapter trust.

Curry taught Agricultural Education for 43 years, including one year at Indiahoma and then 42 years at Central High. He was a Sterling FFA member where he earned his State FFA Degree, American FFA Degree and was a top four finalist in National Proficiency Crop Production. He attended Oklahoma State University and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. As an Agricultural Education Instructor, he was one of the first to become National Board Certified and served as the OAETA President.

Under his leadership Central High's Chapter Trust was ranked among the top 10 in the state, today totaling $25,000. He and his wife Deanie have been married since 1976. They have two children, Andy and Andrea, who were also members of the FFA.

Curry has been a champion of the chapter trust program since its inception. Today, the program has surpassed the $1,000,000 mark and continues to grow and ensure the prosperity of the Oklahoma FFA Association for many generations to come. The "I Believe" Gala is an annual event hosted by the Oklahoma FFA Foundation.
