Bray seeks community input at scheduled public meeting

by Toni Hopper

Public input is needed from Bray residents for a proposed Active Living Plan (ALP) that would enhance the quality of life in the small community. A public meeting will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Bray Community Center.

Residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinions and ask questions regarding a proposed Master Plan. Providing an enhanced quality of life for current and future residents is the ultimate goal of the ALP.

Early architect rendering includes many elements, such as renovations to existing town-owned property in the heart of the community. Items to be considered include additional parking, a food truck village, a festivals and event stage, playground, basketball and fitness machines, open lawn, park and play area, and a proposed walking trail. Mayor Scott Boland and other council members are expected to be at the meeting.

An initial application for funding from the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Set-Aside, formerly known as the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) was denied, with recommendations. That included calling for a public meeting. An Active Living Plan takes into account several factors, including historic preservation, vegetation management, environmental mitigation, street networks, recreational trails and even safe routes to school projects.
