Charles "Chuck" Wayne Hill, 80, of Marlow, passed away on March 26, 2024.

Chuck was born April 4, 1943, to Mary Florence Briscoe Hill and Billy Wayne Hill in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Marlow High School in 1961 he studied at Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in economics in 1965.

After graduation, he completed U.S. Army Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, as well as Officer's Candidate School at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and served in Germany. Chuck received an honorable discharge as a 1st Lieutenant in 1968. He proudly displayed his "spurs" in his home and a decal of his unit on his beloved 1984 Chevrolet El Camino, "Elle."

Before leaving for the military, Chuck asked Jana Lynn Jones of Marlow if she "wanted to join the Army." Fortunately, she said yes, and their great 57-year adventure began by sweeping Jana out of Marlow at the age of 20 landing halfway around the world. Their life together was full of kids, travel, and grandkids.

After serving in the Army, they settled into life in Marlow. Outside of his family, Marlow, Oklahoma was his true love. Chuck was generous with his time and resources. He volunteered, raised and gave money, and was always generous to important causes of the day. He especially liked helping others in need. You didn't hear much about these things, because he enjoyed doing these things as anonymously as possible.

Chuck owned and operated Jan L Construction and Marlow Roofing for almost 50 years. He learned the construction business by starting his first job at American Precast in Marlow. As a young entrepreneur, he secured jobs to construct several TG&Y and CR Anthony stores throughout Oklahoma. He never seemed to be without a "next" project.

In 1971, Joshua Brent Hill, was born and in 1975, Sarah Lynne Hill arrived. Losing Josh in 1991 was without a doubt the low point in his life. However, they persevered with their daughter, Sarah, and fulfilled many of their dreams through hard work, travel, and adventures.

Chuck and Jana always had a wealth of friends, and they greatly enjoyed the time they spent on golf courses throughout the world. Their get-away homes in Santa Fe and Dallas were filled with great food, friends, golf, and laughter.

Chuck was predeceased by his father, Billy Wayne Hill; his mother, Mary Florence Briscoe Hill; his son Joshua Brent Hill; and his sister, Lynne Paige Hill Power. He is survived by his wife, Jana Lynn Jones Hill of Marlow; his daughter, Sarah Lynne Hill Johnson of Duncan; his son-in-law, Jay Russell Johnson of Duncan; and two grandsons, Benjamin "Ben" Russell and Nicholas "Nick" Charles Johnson of Lawton and Edmond respectively.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Marlow on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 2 p.m.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Josh Hill Memorial Wrestling Scholarship, a fund for postsecondary education of Marlow wrestlers in honor of their son Josh. This fund has sent many deserving young Marlow men to postsecondary education over the last three decades. Donations may be sent to the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, PO Box 21210, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73156 and include the Josh Hill Memorial Wrestling Scholarship in the "memo" line.
