Outlaw Golf takes CVC Tournament Title

Coach Brown named CVC Boys’ Coach of the Year

Marlow Outlaw Golf (Class 3A Region SW) claimed the 2024 Canadian Valley Conference Tournament title with a 27-stroke victory Tuesday, at Brent Bruehl Golf Course in Purcell. Coach James Brown was also named the 2024 CVC Boys’ Golf Coach of the Year.

The team shot a 323, while Lindsay Leopards (3A Reg SW) shot a 350, only 1 point better than Pauls Valley Panthers (4A Reg SE). Bridge Creek (4A Reg C) and Comanche (3A Reg SW) shot 366. Individual scores: Tommy Miller 77 (soph), Ethan Travis 77 (soph), Lane Boyles 85 (junior) and Drew Wollenberg 84 (senior) each finished in the top seven and were also named to the CVC All-Conference team. Senior Brad McClure shot a 92.

“It is great to see these young men succeed. They have spent a lot of time working on their games and the young men that didn’t get to go today are pushing them for their spots,” Brown said Tuesday.

The boys’ team also grabbed the Championship victory at the Dickson Comet Invitational at Lake Murray State Park GC in Ardmore, Wednesday, March 27. The varsity team of Lane Boyles, Brad McClure, Tommy Miller, Ethan Travis and Drew Wollenberg shot a 330 to win by 10 strokes over Blanchard.

“This is the first time in a long time that we have won back-to-back tournaments with the varsity. I only look successful because these guys try so hard. I am very proud of them as people and what they have accomplished so far,” Brown said. “We hope to continue to get better and see what happens.”

Varsity individual scores (and top-10 finishers) were: Tommy Miller - 81 - 4th place; Ethan Travis - 82 - 6th place; Lane Boyles - 83 - 7th place; Brad McClure - 84 - 9th place; and Drew Wollenberg - 89 - 19th place.

Marlow's JV team of Kyler Blundell, Devin Woods, Carter Mitchell and Aidan Duke, finished in 5th place overall among the 18 teams that participated in the tournament.

Individual scores for this team: Kyler Blundell – 89, Devin Woods – 93, Carter Mitchell – 94, and Aidan Duke – 95.

The JV2 team finished in 12th place overall. They were Carter Duke – 98, Gatlin Greer – 98, Bradyn Brantley – 108, and Justin Choate – 112.

The team earned 3rd place finish at Purcell, on March 11. The Outlaws Varsity and JV teams will play Thursday, April 4, (time TBA) at Duncan Golf & Tennis Club. They head to Lake Hefner GC to play Santa Fe South on April 9.
