Lt. Gov. Pinnell to speak at Marlow's chamber banquet

April 18, 2024

The Marlow Chamber of Commerce's annual Chamber Banquet is set for 6 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the Life Center at Marlow First Baptist. Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell is this year's guest speaker, said Chamber Executive Director Destiny Ahlfenger. Pinnell is the Chairman for many boards and commissions such as the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Route 66 Centennial Commission, according to the official state website.

Not new to the area as he hosts the Lt. Gov's two-week turkey hunt held in Stephens County. Pinnell has been spearheading the fishing trails that are recently new to Oklahoma and includes Marlow's Lake Taylor. The Chamber looks forward to hosting and hearing about the Lt. Governor's plans for the upcoming election year and the goals he has for Oklahoma and Oklahomans.

"The banquet is a great time for fellowship, delicious food, and honoring those who are so deserving of recognition for the contributions made to Marlow" said Ahlfenger, "and the guest speaker being our Lt. Governor has a lot excitement around the event."

The Marlow Chamber Banquet is held annually in April to recognize three award winners. The Community Improvement award is presented by Mayor, Jeff Prater. Last year's winner was Blue Arc for their incredible contribution to the Marlow community. The Free Enterprise award is being presented by Chamber Vice-President, Lynn Bailey of Edward Jones. The Free Enterprise winner last year was Esperanza. Lastly, but maybe the most looked forward to award is the Citizen of the Year. This year, Chamber Treasurer, Larry Johnson of BancFirst will present this award. Johnson was last year's award winner for the many organizations he volunteers, leads, or creates which are many. He is also the Chamber treasurer.

"We are grateful the Lt. Governor has taken his time to be in Marlow" said Johnson, "and we are honored to host him."

New to the event last year was a silent auction that the Marlow Chamber of Commerce is going to continue. If you would like to donate a silent auction item, please contact the Chamber as well. Items ranged from homemade salsa from our District Attorney, Jason Hicks to being picked up from school in a firetruck! Tickets sales are limited to 60 attendees.
