             Severin Lawrence Wilde

   Services are pending for Severin Lawrence Wilde who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas.

   A former resident of the Central High Community, located west of Marlow, he was 80 years old.

   He was born Feb. 10, 1944, in Rhineland, Texas, to Charles and Annie (Decker) Wilde.

   A 1962 graduate of Central High School, he continued his education at Cameron College in Lawton and graduated in 1964 with an associate degree.

   He completed his education at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1966 with a degree in engineering.

   While at Oklahoma State University, he participated in the ROTC program which enabled him to enter the United States Army with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

   Stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, he became a pilot of Huey and Cobra Helicopters. 

   During the Viet Nam War he was the commander of a fire team of PH-1G helicopters and also received the Distinguished Service Cross and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism above and beyond the call of duty.

   He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.

   He was employed as a project engineer for Texstar Plastics and was an avid bowler and gardener.

   Wilde was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Dennis, LeeRoy, Cecil, Marvin and Melvin Wilde; two sisters, Charlene Thames and Roseann LaJaunie.

   Survivors include a sister: Bettie Cooper and husband George of Marlow; a brother, John Robert Wilde of Fort Worth, Texas; numerous nephews and nieces; two sisters-in-law, Helen Wilde of Alvarado, Texas and Yvonne Wilde of Fort Worth, Texas.
