Marlow dominates Mustang on Sept 12 game

September 18, 2024

The Marlow Outlaws decisively defeated the class 6A-I Mustang Broncos JV squad, 53-7, on September 12, 2024.

The game played at Marlow High School showcased the Outlaws’ offensive prowess and defensive might, leaving the Broncos struggling to keep pace throughout the game. The scoring frenzy began early in the first quarter. Marlow’s Jonathan Brite put the Outlaws on the board with a 13-yard touchdown run, followed shortly by two safeties—resulting from botched snaps through the end zone.

Just before the quarter ended, Marlow quarterback Blayd Harris connected with Jacob Crowson for a stunning 64- yard touchdown pass, giving the Outlaws an 18-0 lead. Marlow continued to assert its dominance in the second quarter as Hudson Morgan scored on a 4-yard run, followed by Harris himself, who dashed 62 yards to the end zone.

With a commanding 32-0 lead at halftime, the Outlaws showed no signs of slowing down. Even in the third quarter, the Marlow offense kept rolling. Morgan scored again with a 1-yard rush before Brett Wolfe connected with Kaden Harris on a 51-yard pass for a touchdown, extending the lead to 46-0. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Mustang Broncos managed to get on the scoreboard, thanks to a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Hunter Huggins. However, Marlow responded swiftly, as Morgan punched in his third touchdown of the game, finalizing the score at 53-7.

Statistically, Marlow dominated nearly every aspect of the game. They racked up a total of 380 yards of total offense, with 245 rushing yards on 35 carries and 71 passing yards. Harris was the standout player for the Outlaws, completing 5 of 9 passes for 71 yards and rushing for an additional 66 yards on 3 carries, including a touchdown. The Mustang Broncos struggled to find any offensive rhythm, totaling just 158 yards of offense. Quarterback Kolby Ramsey completed 12 of 20 passes for 78 yards. The Broncos were limited to 80 rushing yards, with Huggins leading the way with 68 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, the Outlaws were relentless, recording 10 tackles for loss and forcing two turnovers while maintaining strong field position with an average start at their own 51.1-yard line, compared to the Broncos’ average start at the 26-yard line.

Coach Matt Webber and the Outlaws will look to carry this momentum into their next game. The Outlaws have a bye week, before hosting the Lindsay Leopards in their final non-district game on September 27th.
