Marie Arden (Foreman, Meeks) Colley was born February 24, 1936 in Marlow, OK and went home to be with her Lord on December 24, 2024. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lower Lawrence Colley Jr.; her parents: Thelma Ruth and Herman (Pete) Meeks of Duncan and birth father, Chester Foreman; brother, Herman Ellis; and grandparents, Arden and Daisy Cobb. Marie is survived by her six sons: Kenneth Eugene and wife Robin of Bartonville, TX, Michael Bruce and wife Pyong of Marlow, Paul Lawrence of Franktown, CO, Keith Arden of Marlow, Lower Douglas and husband Brian Altiery of Puerto Rico, and Christopher Robert and husband Michael Pollock of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren: Scott and wife Kristen, Jennifer and husband Alex Woods, Austin and wife Amanda, Kim Hee and husband Brendan Davis, and Lisa Marie; eleven great-grandchildren: Asher, Ella, Cloe and Tavish-children of Scott and Kristen, Cody and Ryan-sons of Jennifer and Alex, Emma and Hailey-daughters of Austin and Amanda, and Jin Hee, Jae Hee and Joseph-children of Kim and Brendan Davis. She is also survived by a sister, Daisy and husband Gary McNeil; nieces, Staci and Brad Cook and children Shelbi, Cassidi and Bodee, April and Aaron Claybaugh and children Mallory, Jacob and Morgan, all of Oklahoma City.
After the boys were older, Marie worked in the healthcare field, serving as Executive Secretary for the American Nurses' Association when they were located in Kansas City, MO, Secretary to the Administrator of Jefferson County Hospital in Winchester, KS, and Secretary for Lawrence Memorial Hospital Social Services Department in Lawrence, KS. Marie retired in 1998 as the Executive Assistant to the CEO of The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas in Dallas.
When Marie and Lower retired, after living most of their married life in northeast Kansas and Dallas areas, they returned to Marlow and purchased her grandparent's house, where she was born and spent most of her childhood.
Marie enjoyed many different kinds of crafts during her life, but quilting and machine embroidery were primary after her retirement.
Marie and her husband were active, involved members of their beloved church, Ray of Hope, located south of Duncan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel.
