Richard “Dickie” Bishop, 77, of Shamrock, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 30, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Shamrock, with Kade Carpenter officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00pm at Marlow Cemetery in Marlow, Oklahoma.
Dickie was born on January 25, 1947 in Burkburnett, TX to the late Andy and Mary Bishop. He grew up in Velma, OK and graduated with the Velma High School Class of 1965. He then began his career with Skelly Oil Company, which transitioned through the years to become Getty and later Texaco Oil Company, before concluding his career at Nabors and retiring. Dickie had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, pursuits that reflected his love for the outdoors and brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Carol Jo Johnson Bishop; and his sister, Linda Allred.
Dickie is lovingly remembered by his five children: Yancey Bishop and his wife, Jennifer of Tuttle, OK; LaTisha Miller and her husband, Jimmy of Duncan, OK; Jennifer Horn and her husband, Max of Waynoka, OK; Shelli Dixon and her husband, Doug of The Woodlands, TX; and Casey Bishop and his wife, Amanda of Oklahoma City. He was a devoted grandfather to Hunter Bishop, Tyler Brannon, Tanner Brannon, Bryce Walker, Kyle Miller, Bret Horn, Brady Horn, Sydney Dixon, and Dylan Dixon. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Tanner Arthur, Landry Wittwer, Josey Wittwer and Riggs Horn.
Dickie’s memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy is reflected in the cherished moments shared with family and friends. May he rest in peace as those who loved him continue to honor his life with gratitude and love.
