Willa Mae Lowe

 Willa Mae Lowe, 93, of Duncan, went to her heavenly home with her beloved son Craig by her side on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was born July 12, 1931, in Sugden, Oklahoma to William “Bill” Charles and Lillie Mae “Tot” (Allen) Campbell. The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 14, at Whitt Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 15, at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Tommy McCasland III, Cameron McCasland, Bridger McCasland, Mat Woods, Pee Wee Copeland, and Tony Graves serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Hays, Buddy Campbell, and Henry Bonney. Willa Mae attended Sugden Public Schools where she served as Class President and Valedictorian her senior year. She attended the University of Oklahoma and Draughn’s Business School. On July 7, 1951, Willa Mae married Edwin “Ed” M. Lowe in Waurika, before moving to Duncan one year later. They were married for 67 years at the time of Ed’s death on September 15, 2017. After receiving her accounting degree, she then went to work in the Jefferson County Superintendent’s office ordering all books and supplies as well as maintaining the budgets for each ISD in Jefferson County. Willa Mae also worked as the church Secretary/Treasurer for Wesley United Methodist Church in Duncan for 7 years. Her husband Ed retired after 40 years of service from Public Service Company of Oklahoma (later AEP of Oklahoma) and together they focused their time striving for a better community and more advanced hospital. She was very active in several community groups and volunteered over 11,000 hours of recorded service at Duncan Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Tot Campbell; husband, Ed M. Lowe; aunts: Della Campbell Countiss and husband, Hosea Denton Countiss, Josie (Jane) J. Campbell Cleaver; cousin, Sam Countiss and his wife Louise Swofford Countiss. Surviving family is an only child, son E. Craig Lowe of Duncan and cousin, Daniel (Danny a/k/a Dan) Countiss and wife Kathy (Katt) Countiss of Medina, TX, formerly of Corpus Christi, TX.
