Marlow’s Thor Baima Recognized with Top ROTC Honors at Cameron University
Thor Baima of Marlow was among the top cadets honored during Cameron University’s recent Army ROTC awards ceremony hosted by the George D. Keathley Department of Military Science. Baima was named a recipient of both the prestigious Superior Cadet Award and the Cadet of the Semester Award, recognizing his exceptional performance in leadership, academics, and military training as a member of the Comanche Battalion.
The Superior Cadet Award is given annually to cadets who rank in the top 25 percent both academically and within the ROTC program and who demonstrate outstanding military leadership and officer potential. Baima earned this distinction alongside fellow cadets Raymond DePhillips, Alex Heidebrecht and Colton Miller.
In addition, Baima was named Cadet of the Semester, a title reserved for cadets who show excellence across the board in leadership, academic success, and commitment to the Comanche Battalion.
The awards ceremony honored numerous cadets for achievements in military science, physical fitness, academics, and leadership. Other major awards presented included:
Lawton/Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and Industry Award: Colton Miller
Association of the United States Army Award: Byron Farnsworth
Military Order of the Purple Heart Leadership Medal: Martin Gonzales
Daughters of the American Revolution Award: Tila Durham
Military Officers’ Association of America Leadership Award: Robyn Brown
2nd Lt. Tobias Alexander Scholarship: Xavier Davidson
Military Order of the World Wars Award: Jacob Pier, Jeran Rivera, Thomas Wade
American Legion Awards: Maximiliano Espinoza, Colton Miller, Joshua Tripp, Earnest Watson
Comanche Warrior Award: Byron Farnsworth, Dalton Peak, Jeran Rivera, Joshua Tripp, among others
Numerous cadets also received scholarships, including those awarded in honor of military leaders and veterans, recognizing academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to service.
The Comanche Battalion’s annual awards ceremony recognizes cadets for their dedication and accomplishments in all aspects of the ROTC program, with support from the Department of the Army and various community and national organizations.
