Marlow Review hires new Editor

The Marlow Review is excited to announce the hiring of its new Editor, Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard. Pitts-Hibbard, who will officially join The Review staff March 18, said a love of the residents in Stephens County and a desire to ensure The Marlow Review’s reputation as a quality, caring, trusted local news source continues are two driving factors behind her excitement at being chosen for the position.

“I can’t wait to join the staff of the Marlow Review and to continue the legacy of excellence that has been established throughout its history,” she said. “This community is my home; I love this area and the people in it.”

Although she was born in Wisconsin, Pitts-Hibbard said she considers herself a lifelong resident of Stephens County. She attended Duncan High School and the University of Oklahoma, and after living out of state for several years, she and her daughter returned to Stephens County in 2007.

Pitts-Hibbard said writing has always been a passion of hers; she studied English at the University of Oklahoma and has had pieces published in college journals, anthologies, and newspapers in both Memphis and Duncan. After working for several nonprofit organizations in Memphis and Stephens County, Pitts-Hibbard accepted a position at Distinctive Decor where she wrote web content as well as managed social media accounts and storefront operations.

Being out and about in the area won’t be new for Pitts-Hibbard, who said that her family is enthusiastic about the community and embraces opportunities to volunteer with area organizations including Stephens County Humane Society, Duncan Little Theatre, Bountiful Baskets Co-Op, and First Presbyterian Church. She said she is looking forward to learning even more about her home county through her new position with The Review.

According to Marlow Review publisher Katherine Farrow, Pitts-Hibbard’s passion for the community and knowledge about the area will make her an excellent fit at the paper.

“I wanted to make sure we found someone who was local and has a great love for the community, who would make sure our readers continue to have the coverage they deserve,” Farrow said. “[Pitts-Hibbard] cares deeply about the community and the people in it -- that’s something that can’t be taught. Many people in this area already know Elizabeth, and know that her excellent writing skills and attention to detail will be a great asset to The Review and to the communities of Marlow, Central and Bray.”

The Review staff will be hosting a community meet and greet to welcome Pitts-Hibbard and give residents and readers a chance to say “hello,” from 9:30-11 a.m., March 22 at The Marlow Review. Coffee and breakfast items will be provided at this come-and-go event; the entire community is invited and welcome to attend.
