Peggy Jean George (Willson) was born August 26, 1936, in Pampa, Texas to Caveness (Leonard) and Melvin Paul Willson.

She was the second of eight children. Peggy grew up in the Marlow area and attended Central High School. She married her love Armon George on June 18, 1952. Peggy and Armon have 5 boys – David, Luther, Arnold, Larry, and Jesse. They have 11 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids, plus 2 great-great-grandkids.

Mrs. George passed away after a short illness on April 2, 2023, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at Whitt Chapel on Wednesday, April 5, at 3 p.m., and interment will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bro. David Woods and with music by Dale Rochell. Family will receive visitors at Whitt Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4.

Peggy was a great cook and was well known for her sweet rolls. She spent her early years as a cafeteria cook for Central High School and helped at Empire High School occasionally. She was hired at Red River Technology Center as a dishwasher, although she had more experience than her coworkers. But she persevered and due to her experience and reputation in a short time became the head cook for RRTC, where she retired in 1999.

Survivors include her children: David and Maree of Duncan, Luther of Marlow, Arnold and Angela of Marlow, and Jesse and Crystal of Marlow. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Armon; her parents; siblings: Melba, Wilma, Dickie, Ben, Floyd, Steven, and Curtis; son, Larry; and grandsons: Jeremiah and Keenan.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Rochell, Brian George, Caden George, Cody George, Ryley Shipman, and Gage Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin George, Sean George, and Carson Atkinson.
