Nearly 49 years after that 1891 Christmas Eve experience, this photograph of Mary Ida Jones flanked by her daughter, Mamie Vandagriff (l) and her son John (r) was made shortly before she died in 1939. All three had vivid memories of the cruel joke the family endured on Christmas morning in 1891.
Christmas Came a Little Late
High Waters in Marlow – June 14, 1945 Marlow has never suffered loss from flood waters within the city yet the high water picture was taken last Friday by Nelson Studio and is an actual scene of high water which filled a low area at the ball park in southwest Marlow in spite of city drains to the sewer. The water formed a lake almost a block wide and entirely surrounded the home in the foreground at the corner of Sixth and Arapahoe.
