City Makes Election Proclamation
MARLOW - Two of the five seats on the city council will be up for election in 2024. The filing period begins in December.
The positions are the councilmember for Ward III and Mayor.
Ward III, currently held by Jon Rich, encompasses the southwest portion of Marlow as set forth by the City Charter. It covers the city limits south of Main Street and west of Fourth
Street. The position of Mayor, currently held by Jeff Prater, is an at-large position.
The filing period for these seats on the Marlow City Council opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, and closes on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at 5 p.m. All filing must be done in person at the Stephens County Election Board at the Stephens County Courthouse in Duncan, located at 1075 West Elm St.
All City Council positions have three-year terms, including Mayor. The qualifications for the position includes being at least 25 years of age, not in litigation or arrears with the city, and a bona fide resident and property taxpayer for a least one year prior to the date of election, according to the City Charter.
The primary election will be Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, with the winner seated at the regular meeting in May.
