Upcoming Events: Book Club at CTHC; CTAC Youth Art Month deadline Friday

Book Club Notes: Chisholm Trail Heritage Center is hosting Let's Talk About It, a book club for people who love to read and discuss great literature. Mark Davies will lead a talk about "The Last of the Mohicans" by James Fenimore Cooper. The first discussion in this 5-part series is 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12. The discussion series is part of the "Many Trails, Many Tribes: Images of American Indians in Fiction" theme. Books are available at the Heritage Center's front desk.

CTAC - Youth Art Month Entries Wanted: The Chisholm Trail Arts Council's CTAC Art Gallery will be taking student art entries, with parent/teacher approval, to be featured in its Annual Youth March Art Show in Duncan.

Students in grades K-12 are eligible to participate. Deadline to RSVP is Feb. 16. Artwork is to be delivered no later than March 1.

Opening reception and awards announcements is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 8. Gallery of work will be on display until March 22.

Cash prizes in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded to elementary, middle, and high school divisions.

Chisholm Trail Heritage Center is hosting its annual Youth Art Month with art on display March 1 - March 31. This year's theme - is "Dream in Art." Participating schools are Marlow High School, Duncan High School, FAME Academy, Elgin High School and Walters High School. A public reception will be 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 8. The Heritage Center's sponsorship of Youth Art Month (YAM) is the longest running in the region, having begun more than 12 years ago. Student artwork is submitted by their teachers.
