Billy Floyd Landis was born May 8, 1936, in Walters, Oklahoma, to Harvey and Oma Lois (Petty) Landis. He passed away at his home in Comanche on Thursday, December 7, 2023, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Inurnment will follow in Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jason Landis, Scott Landis, Brian D. Maddox, Bradley D. Maddox, Skyler Powell, Gage Landis, Dallas Landis, Jason Landis II, Corbin Maddox, Hunter Maddox, Jazon Maddox, and Tyler Maddox.
After graduating from Walters High School in 1955, Billy joined the U.S. Navy. He would then go on to work a wide range of jobs starting with Halliburton in the oil field, then as a surveyor in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, in construction with Miller Construction, and finally, at the Duncan Post Office.
Billy married Marilyn Black on February 24, 1961, in Durango, Colorado. He enjoyed being around horses and cows and loved to hunt. However, Billy's favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Landis Sr.; daughter, Mona Irene Landis; and grandson, Robert Floyd (Chip) Landis Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; daughter, Kellie Lois Landis of Comanche; grandchildren: Jason Landis, Scotty Landis and wife Lindsey, Pulweiya Louise Cameron, Wendaiya Antoinette Cameron, Kalala Lolesio, Lisa Mippenze, Chantelle Mary Cameron, Brian Dewayne Maddox, Brande Feilding, Bradley Don Maddox, and Marilyn Nicole Landis; great-grandchildren: Tylor Maddox, Jazon Maddox, Corey Rees, Skyler Maddox, Corbin Maddox, Hunter Maddox, Dallas Landis, Shelby Landis, William Kent, Erynn Kent, Jason Heath Landis II, Gage Landis, Orion Landis, Caylie Boydston, Brittnay Nicole Landis; numerous great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Lydia Troop, Harvey Landis Jr., Archie Landis, Beryline Anderson, Thomas Riley Sr., Kenneth Keith Landis; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
